Are you looking for a way to schedule text messages on your iPhone and have them sent to their recipients automatically? Well it’s quite probable that there are thousands if not millions of iPhone users out there all wanting to just that! However, when it comes to doing so on an iPhone, things can start to become a bit awkward and that’s where this new app called Delayd comes in!
There are tweaks available, which enable it to be done, but they require you to have an iPhone that has been jailbroken. So what if you do not have a jailbroken iPhone? What choices are there for you, yes there are third-party apps that allow you to send messages at specific times, but it not easy to do due to the restrictions placed on into iOS by Apple.
Good news! There is an app that can get around Apple’s message scheduling nightmare and help you to schedule and automatically send texts at any time you want!
Say Hello to the Delayd App
In response to iPhone users constantly asking Apple for the ability to schedule messages and its apparent unwillingness to cooperate the Delayd messaging app was created. Before we move on I’ll have to point out that yes, there are already lots of apps on the app store that promise the ability to schedule SMS messages, but as you already know most of them if not all of them don’t actually do what they say they can do.
Often what looks like an automated scheduling ability turns out in the end to be nothing more than the option to manually send a message, which is frustrating!!
So if you’re looking for an app that has all your iPhone messaging hopes and dreams tied up and packaged into one neat little piece of software read on…
What does the Delayd app do Differently?
Well let’s cut to the chase, the Delayd app will schedule and automatically send your text messages without you needing to do anything other than composing them! You simply compose the message, set the date and then choose a time to be sent, currently this can be adjusted by 15-minutes. And that’s it all is left for you to do his hit the Schedule button.
All you have to do know, is sit back and wait for a delivered notification to come in, and that’s it you can now schedule messages with your iPhone.
Recurring Messages and User Interface
Another feature of the Delayd app is its ability to schedule messages, which can be set to recur whenever you want them to. This is all done within a neat looking interface that has an instantly understandable layout.
Organizing your messages in done in the following way, Scheduled, sent and recurring, these can be found on the main screen underneath the relevant tabs section. Furthermore, there is additional support beyond text messages for Facebook status updates, tweets and even emails, which is an extra and very important piece of extra functionality.
Remember those Apple restrictions, which are built into iOS? Delayd out manoeuvres them by using its own servers (it’s a workaround) to send all of the messages, emails and tweets etc you send. However, there is a downside to this approach (Thanks Apple) and that is the intended readers of your communications will not be able to respond, due to that fact that they will not be able to see an email address or phone number of the sender!!
Wait… there is a workaround that you can complete yourself, just make sure you leave some kind of information within the message itself to identify you as the sender! It’s not an ideal solution, but surely you didn’t expect to get everything your own way, did you?
Is it the App Free?
In short no… however, the app is free to download and install. What you will have to purchase is messaging bundles, which come in the form of credits. These credits start with a bundle of 50 that costs $0.99 all the way up to the largest of 500, which will set you back $3.99. On a more positive note, the app comes with 50 credits free to get you started.
Final thoughts
Whilst it is not a true solution to the iPhone messaging problem, it is an effective workaround one that until Apple finally caves in and does the decent thing will probably be your only choice if jailbreaking is not a comfortable subject for you.
If you want to download it from the App Store you can do so here
