Financial markets in many emerging economies came under renewed pressure early this year, signaling investors’ rising uncertainty about the shifting sources of global growth. Will Federal Reserve tapering foster further capital flight from emerging countries, and can the developed economies take up the slack? Accelerating growth in the U.S., U.K, and Japan, and a Eurozone that’s come out of its recession, offer a dose of optimism. But with the BRICs buckling – only China may notch 7 percent growth this year – the entire international system will feel the lag. Can Mexico’s economy accelerate and compensate for a weakened Brazil? Will fast-growing countries in regions such as sub-Saharan Africa offset the wobbly performance of the submerged emergers? This session will search out the best investment opportunities amid the changing global dynamics.
