One of which is SnapChat, the popular social app has features which the people at Facebook covet. So, much so, that recent updates the social giant’s apps have included Snaptchat-esque touches, with one being Facebook Stories.
What is Facebook Stories?
Facebook Stories is an addition to the iOS and Android app, which adds three features: A camera effects utility, which can be accessed a swipe from the news feed. A place to find disappearing stories, and a new way to share media directly from your camera. The are all features found on Snapchat!
Now, if you love Snapchat, there’s the considerable possibility that you will have the same feelings for these. However, if, you prefer, to keep Facebook and Snapchat distinctions apart from one another. Plus you have a jailbroken iPhone; there’s something you can do about it. Yes, you can turn off the feature, but before we tell you how, here’s why you may not be alone in doing so.
Facebook Stories, A Failure
Reports from around the world are beginning to indicate that this new Stories feature hasn’t been welcomed with open arms. In fact, on a global scale, the number of people using it has been far below what those in charge of its roll-out had hoped for.
As such, the social giant has reacted to the lack of interest by introducing a Ghosting Feature. It will show a user exactly which friends and family members have been using it. Regarding how to get rid of this Snapchat like feature, it’s going to require a jailbreak tweak and Cydia. So, if you’re in possession of a jailbroken iPhone, this information is for you.
1. You need to Launch Cydia and search for the tweak known as NoMoreStories. It can be found in the BigBoss Repository.
2. Once you have found it, Select It and let Cydia do its thing.
If you’re concerned about this tweak, using up precious storage space on your iPhone, don’t. Like most jailbreak tweaks it is both lightweight and has no configurable options. It just does what it was developed to do. And that is, turn off Facebook Stories from a jailbroken iPhone.
Additionally, for those who may be concerned, that some effect may take place on their overall Facebook account. It will not. This how to, will only effect the application on your iOS device. Meaning, that if you have a none jailbroken device with the app, it will still have Facebook Stories. As will, your desktop/laptop/Mac version.
