On Netflix, Pokémon TV shows have become one of the most watched titles after the release of Pokémon Go mobile game, which has taken the world by storm, told a spokesperson for the steaming service to CNBC on Thursday. The streaming giant offers several Pokémon shows including Pokémon: Hoopa and the Clash of Ages, Pokémon: XY, Pokémon: Indigo League, and Pokémon: Diancie and the Cocoon of Destruction.

Pokemon growing popular on Netflix

In an emailed statement, a spokesperson told CNBC “Pokémon shows have jumped into the most popular titles in many countries around the globe where we have Pokémon titles available.” The Pokémon titles streaming on Netflix are available across Australia, Europe and America. Now, Netflix subscribers are seeing Pokémon: Indigo League appearing in the “trending now” section of their service, and this happens only when a program is being watched a lot.

The revival of Pokemon cartoons came after the release of the augmented reality mobile game Pokémon Go earlier this month. The game has taken the world by surprise, getting a tremendous popularity in just a few days. According to SimilarWeb, a player is spending 43 minutes per day on average in playing the game. People are spending more time in playing Pokémon Go than they are spending on WhatsApp and Snapchat, claims SimilarWeb.

The US firm Niantic and Japan’s Nintendo are behind this augmented reality game. The tremendous popularity has caused a huge spike in Nintendo’s share price. In addition, Pokémon Go is available in the US, Australia, New Zealand, U.K. and Germany and in many other European countries. The game will soon be released in Japan as well.

Daredevil renewed for a third season

Separately, Netflix’s Daredevil is renewed for a third season. On Thursday, the news was announced during the panel for Netflix’s new superhero series Marvel’s Luke Cage at comic-con. The announcement was accompanied with a tweet and a short video clip showing Hell’s Kitchen subway station. No more details were revealed about the upcoming series.

Marvel also gave no information on when Matt Murdoch, Foggy, and friends will be back on the streaming service. But, the third-season will complement several of Marvel’s upcoming shows like Iron Fist, a second series of Jessica Jones and Luke Cage.

At 9.38 am EDT, Netflix shares were up 0.01% at $86. Year to date, the stock is down over 26% while in the last one-year, it is down almost 23%. The stock has a 52-week high of $133.27 and a 52-week low of $79.95.
