Nokia Corporation (ADR) (NYSE:NOK) (BIT:NOK1V) (HEL:NOK1V) may be offloading its devices division to Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT) very soon, but that hasn’t stopped speculations about its next devices from flying. Twitter user @evleaks, who has often enough reported accurate information in the past, tweeted the following: “Nokia event April 19th?”

What Nokia might have to show

Nokia Corporation (ADR) (NYSE:NOK) (BIT:NOK1V) (HEL:NOK1V) just showed off its very first Android smartphones at the Mobile World Congress, so of course the technology community is questioning exactly what the struggling company will have to show us. Many industry watchers, like those at NDTV, suggest that we’ll be seeing Nokia’s next line of Windows 8.1 smartphones. Most generally expect the operating system to be released on the date of the event as well.

We’ve been hearing about plenty of rumored devices, like the Lumia 1820, the Lumia 1525 and the Lumia 1520V. The Lumia 1820 is rumored to be a replacement for the Lumia 1020, as it will likely focus on the camera. Although some expected it to be revealed at the MWC, it hasn’t been shown off yet. It is expected to sport a metal unibody chassis and Lytro-style camera. The Lumia 1520V is expected to be a mini version of the Lumia 1520, which was released just in time for Christmas.

Nokia stepping up the tech

There have also been rumors about a device codenamed Martini and possibly the Lumia 630 and the Lumia 635, which are believed to be codenamed Moneypenny and Goldfinger. Rumors have suggested that the Goldfinger will feature Nokia Corporation (ADR) (NYSE:NOK) (BIT:NOK1V) (HEL:NOK1V)’s 3D touch technology, which basically means that the hardware is supposed to be able to detect interactions even if they do not involve touching the screen. In other words, users could just use a wave of the hand to control the device.

Nokia Corporation (ADR) (NYSE:NOK) (BIT:NOK1V) (HEL:NOK1V)’s rumored Moneypenny device is believed to feature dual SIM slots. Some reports have suggested that there will be two different versions of this handset for different markets.
