Those who ordered the phone received an email today from AT&T Inc. (NYSE:T) and Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT). Strangely that email didn’t include an apology to start the email. Rather it read….
Because of overwhelming demand, your Nokia Lumia 1520 order is delayed in shipping. As soon as your shipping label is printed, we’ll send you an email with the tracking information. You can also track your order on our site.
In addition, to assuage those who might be leaning towards cantankerousness, Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT) has decided to toss in a $25 promo code that can be used on any item in the company’s online store.
Microsoft explains delay
A Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT) spokesperson confirmed the contents of the email when the company was contacted by CNET with the following statement:
“We are aware that a limited number of our customers are experiencing delays in receiving shipment of Nokia Lumia 1520 Windows Phones that were purchased on the Microsoft Online Store. Our priority is to ensure that every customer who ordered a new Lumia 1520 gets it as quickly as possible. Customers will be notified via email as soon as their order has shipped. We are providing a $25 gift card for future use in the Microsoft Store for all customers who are impacted. If you have questions about your order or would like an update, give us a call at 1-877-696-7786.”
While the deal for Nokia Corporation (NYSE:NOK) (BIT:NOK1V) (HEL:NOK1V) has yet to be truly finalized, its important for one of the first phones since the announced purchase to be a success. It looks like phones running Windows might finally be gaining some traction.
