Given that the iPhone 11 line-up didn’t offer a whole lot in the way of major new features, Apple fans have been especially quick to jump on the iPhone 12 bandwagon. A couple of iPhone 12 leaks we’ve been hearing suggest the display on next year’s line-up could receive a major upgrade from where it stands now.

Rumor suggests new TrueDepth camera

One rumor that’s picked up a lot of steam suggests the iPhone 12 will have a much smaller TrueDepth camera system, which would mean Apple would be able to put it in an ultra-thin bezel and get rid of the notch.

However, BGR notes that the source of this alleged iPhone 12 leak is an amateur graphic designer who has a horrible track record when it comes to making predictions about upcoming iPhone models. The tech blog states that the only time he was correct about a rumor was when he was repeating what everyone else was saying. Further, whenever he came up with a rumor himself, it turned out to be inaccurate.

Thus, it may not be a good idea to get excited about the removal of the notch, at least, not in this way. It seems like Apple will eventually get rid of the notch, but whether that will happen next year remains to be seen.

iPhone 12 leak suggests much faster refresh rate

One other alleged iPhone 12 leak does come from a better source which is Digitimes. This rumor suggests that Apple could take the technology that’s currently used in the display on the iPad Pro and bring it over to the iPhone. The ProMotion displays have a faster 120 Hz refresh rate, which would mean that Apple could finally pull ahead of its Android counterparts, some of which are currently running with a maximum refresh rate closer to 90 Hz. For comparison, the iPhone 11 line-up still has a 60 Hz refresh rate, keeping Apple behind its Android competitors.

The iPad Pro has a stunning display that runs more smoothly than displays on other mobile devices. BGR argues that the prospect of bringing the iPad Pro’s display quality to the iPhone 12 should be the one leak that gets fans excited.
