Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd. (LON:BC94) (KRX:0059935)’s Galaxy Note 5 is a long way off. The Korean company has been losing market share to Asian Android rivals, and the success of the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus has threatened Samsung’s position in the premium segment. So, the Korean company will strive to up the ante with its Galaxy Note 5 to stand out in the crowd.

Galaxy Note 5 with 5.9-inch display

While there is no official word on what the Galaxy Note 5 would look like, concept renderings of the phablet have started doing rounds on the Internet. The latest concept with a whole new approach comes from GizTimes. It comes with a wider body and  5.9-inch display with 4K resolution. The concept imagines the Galaxy Note 5 with an all-metal body and aluminum edges.

GizTimes’ rendering has the Galaxy Note 5 with Android Lollipop, 4GB RAM, Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 processor. The device will have 20-megapixel main camera with 4K recording capabilities and 5-megapixel front snapper. It will have a huge 3,880mAh battery to power the big-screen. This concept design has 64GB internal storage and a microSD slot up to 128GB.

Galaxy Note 5 to be announced at IFA 2015

The device will also get Knox security, a UV sensor, waterproof casing, dual LED flash, and wireless charging. Meanwhile, inside sources have said that the Galaxy Note 5 will have 4K display with 743ppi pixel density. The Korean company will begin mass production of 4K screens in August next year. Going by the historical trend, the Galaxy Note 5 will most likely be announced during the IFA event in September next year.

A 4K display technology will sap plenty of battery power. So, Samsung may include ultra-battery saver mode to the phone. The Galaxy Note 5 is also rumored to have the next-generation UFS memory that offers better speed and less power consumption than the eMMC memory. The UFS memory has a transfer speed of up to 1.2GB per second.

What major improvements or new features do you expect to see in the Galaxy Note 5?
