The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) has announced the resignation of one of its commissioners. Joshua D. Wright’s last day with the agency will be Aug. 24. Wright has been an FTC commissioner since January 2013. His place on the commission was previously set to end in September 2019.
FTC’s Wright returns to university
Wright is a Republic appointed by President Obama. Before joining the FTC, he was a professor of law at George Mason University School of Law. After leaving the agency, he will return to his previous position at George Mason. Also before becoming a commissioner, Wright had been an inaugural Scholar in Residence at the FTC and in the Bureau of Economics and Bureau of Competition. His time as a commissioner with the FTC marked his fourth stint with the agency.
“It has been a privilege to work with Commissioner Wright during his tenure at the Federal Trade Commission,” FTC Chairperson Edith Ramirez said in a statement. “The agency has benefited greatly from his perspective as a lawyer and economist in connection with the matters that have come before us. We are going to miss him and wish him well on his return to academic life.”
