Apple’s World Wide Developers Conference, or WWDC, is one of the most awaited events globally. Developers and fans anxiously wait for Apple to announce the dates for the event. Though the dates for the Apple WWDC 2019 are not officially out yet, a new report claims to know about it.

WWDC 2019 – is the date confirmed?

At the WWDC, Apple unveils the software that the new iPhones will run on when they come out in September. Also, the beta version of the new iOS is launched at the event. Apple usually hosts the WWDC sometime around the middle of the year, usually in June, and Apple WWDC 2019 is rumored to be in the same month as well.

According to a report from MacRumors, Apple WWDC 2019 will start on June 3 and run through June 7. Similar to past years, the WWDC will take place at the McEnery Convention Center in San Jose, California. MacRumors says that a source informed it of a major event at McEnery during the week of June 3.

Moreover, hosting WWDC 2019 in the second and fourth weeks of June is out of the question as the venue is already booked for two other large conventions. The O’Reilly Velocity conference is scheduled from June 10 to 13, while the Sensors Expo will run June 25-27 at McEnery, MacRumors says.

Additionally, MacRumors got a hold of more evidence to back up its claim for the WWDC dates. Large public events like WWDC require the host to get approval from the city authorities. And, when MacRumors enquired with the City of San Jose Office of Cultural Affairs, it found that June 6 is booked for “Team San Jose 2019 WWDC.” A similar entry was listed in the Office of Cultural Affairs’ 2018 events calendar for the actual WWDC 2018 as well.

Moreover, the calendar lists about 7,000 people at the WWDC, which is about the same as last year. Of the 7,000 attendees, about 5000 would be developers, 350 or so WWDC scholars, while the rest would be media and Apple executives.

What you should do?

If what MacRumors is saying about the WWDC date is true, the 2019 event will take place on the same week as last year.

Since 2007, Apple has hosted the week-long event in the first half of June, and the past two events took place at McEnery. Apple’s WWDC 2017 took place from June 5 to June 9, while last year the event ran through June 4 to June 8. So, (if what MacRumors is saying is true) the Apple WWDC 2019 is following a known schedule.

Usually, Apple reveals the WWDC date sometime in March and opens the registration on the same date. If you are interested in Apple WWDC 2019 and are planning to make travel plans based on the dates suggested by MacRumors, then it would be best to wait. Despite the proofs it gave, MacRumors has issued a disclaimer that it should not be held responsible for travel plans. So, it would be better to wait until Apple comes up with the date.

“MacRumors can’t be held responsible for any airfare or accommodations booked based on this information,” the tech site says. Also, MacRumors notes that Apple could still change its plans anytime.

Meanwhile, what you can do is make yourself eligible for the WWDC event. In recent years, the entry ticket for the WWDC event has been priced at $1599. The WWDC tickets are distributed via lottery. Last year, developers who were members of the Apple Developer Program before Apple announced the WWDC date on March 13, were eligible for the lottery. So, if you plan to attend the 2019 event, you should register for the program now.

Apple WWDC 2019 – what to expect?

At the WWDC 2019, Apple is expected to unveil the iOS 13 and macOS 10.15 as well. We can also expect the iPhone maker to take the wraps off of the watchOS and tvOS. Developers will have until September to get their apps to run on the latest OS.

Talking of new features to expect, the new iOS is reported to introduce a new iOS-wide dark mode for easier nighttime viewing and a revamped iPad Home screen. Further, an earlier report from Bloomberg noted that the iOS 13 could come with improved file system management, improvements to CarPlay and an option to tab through multiple versions of an app.
