There’s been plenty of debate lately about whether Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) will go straight for the iPhone 6 and skip over the iPhone 5S. Now some would say that we have even more evidence that the next device will indeed be the iPhone 6.
Stabley Times contributor Jerry Miller says he picked up on six different clues about the iPhone 6 from Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL), iOS 7 and Tim Cook at this year’s Worldwide Developers’ Conference.
The iPhone 6’s Appearance
1 – He took a close look at the iOS 7 interface and believes that it shows us what the iPhone 6 will look like. He pointed out that in the demos of the iOS 7, Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) used an image of a device that looks nothing like any of the past iPhone models. He says either it is the iPhone 6, or Apple has decided to start using “meaningless stub graphics of imaginary Apple devices” to showcase its operating system.
2 – Miller lists colors as one of his items, but he’s pretty vague about what he means. He points out that the iPhone image used by Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) in its keynote presentation was a “painted white” color. He advised readers to be the judge on whether this means that Apple will indeed offer colors other than black and white and whether the casing will be plastic or metal.
3 – In terms of screen size, he described the Apple that was on stage this week as “defiant, aggressive, ambitions,” and he says the “most ambitious” thing the company could do is offer the iPhone 6 in more than one screen size to enable consumers to choose which size they like best.
The Lack Of An iPhone 5S (4) And The Timing Of The iPhone 6
4 – He believes that Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) wouldn’t completely redesign its operating system in order to run it on “the same old hardware.”
5 – In addition, he pointed out that iOS 7 will be coming in the fall, which could be anywhere between Sept. 22 and Dec. 20. That’s according to the 2013 calendar, so technically, Apple may have until December to get that new iPhone 6 out.
In the company’s history though, it hasn’t launched a new iPhone later than the middle of October, so Miller believes this means that the iPhone 6 will be out in September, as some analysts have claimed. He says even August is possible if Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) was purposely being vague using the “fall” term in order to still be able to make its announced deadline even if the worst case scenario happens in the development and manufacturing process.
The Battery Life Of The iPhone 6
6 – Miller also drew conclusions from the longer battery life of the MacBook Air, which was announced at WWDC. He said this means that the company is indeed more interested in extending battery life than in making its devices thinner, so the iPhone 6 could have a longer battery life even if it’s the same size and weight as the iPhone 5.
