Tesla Model S Interior Lacks Function For Some

Updated on

Tesla Motors Inc (NASDAQ:TSLA) has received numerous accolades for the look of its Model S sedan. It received a five-star rating from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration and high praise from Consumer Reports.

However, now a video from Business Insider‘s Alex Davies and William Wei suggests that Tesla has made the interior of the Model S so sleek that it lacks some key features of functionality while also offering some questionable ones.

Tesla Model S lacking features?

Davies notes that there are no bins on the doors inside the Model S, so everything must be put in the center bin. He said his wallet and phone slide around a lot inside there, which isn’t good. He also notes that while the front seat has a pair of cup holders, the back seat doesn’t have any. He said this makes the car less attractive for car trips and suggests that it might not be the perfect family road trip car.

Tesla’s touch screen distracting to the driver

He also suggests that the driver could be distracted by the massive touch screen inside the car. He notes that Tesla Motors Inc (NASDAQ:TSLA) has included some nice features on that touch screen, like map navigation, a backup camera, information about power use and more.

However, he’s concerned about the inclusion of a full-blown web browser, which enables drivers to check email and read articles while driving. (I would hope drivers would have enough common sense not to use those features while driving, but I’m sure there are some lacking this common sense.)

In spite of these problems he sees with the interior of the Model S, he admits that it is a car people just want to drive, which is enough for many drivers to want to own it.

As of this writing, shares of Tesla Motors Inc (NASDAQ:TSLA) were hovering right around their opening price of $147.62 per share.
