There are reports of shots being fired at the NSA (National Security Agency)’s headquarters in Fort Meade, Md. this morning. Live video taken from news choppers show two vehicles, one of which is a police SUV, with severe damage. The vehicles are located near one of the NSA’s security gates.
Details on the shooting at NSA HQ
Photos published by NBC Washington show one man wearing a uniform being taken away in an ambulance. A Fort Meade spokesperson reportedly told the Associated Press that two people were injured in the incident. KXAN reported that authorities also spread a tarp or sheet on the ground to cover up something. It’s possible that the tarp may be covering a body, suggesting that one person may have died in the incident, according to the New York Daily News.
The TV station also reports that it appears as if a driver attempted to ram the security gate at the NSA headquarters but crashed into the wrecked NSA police SUV. Shots were then reportedly fired after the wreck.

Death in NSA shooting not confirmed yet
NSA police are not releasing the name of the suspect or the names of those who were injured in the shooting incident. They have also not officially confirmed the report that one person may have been killed.
However, reporter Tim Pratt tweeted that an unnamed source told him someone was killed in the shooting. Also the sheet on the ground suggests that the report is true. It’s unclear whether the suspect was one of the two people who were injured. Also the suspect’s motive for trying to ram the security gate is unclear.
The NSA facility where the incident happens also houses the military’s Cyber Command center, which handles cyber-attacks and defense for the military. Other government agencies are also housed in the facility.
