Nissan announced the appointment of a senior executive from Bayerische Motoren Werke AG (ETR:BMW) to lead Infiniti, its luxury brand.
According to the Japanese automaker, Roland Krueger, a senior vice president of Bayerische Motoren Werke AG (ETR:BMW) has been appointed as president of Infiniti and senior vice president of Nissan Motor Co Ltd (ADR) (OTCMKTS:NSANY) (TYO:7201).
Krueger has consistent record of high performance
Krueger will directly report to Nissan president and CEO Carlos Ghosn. He will be based in the Hong Kong headquarters of the company.
In a statement, Ghosn said, “Roland Krueger has a consistent record of high performance in the premium automotive sector. He brings unique leadership skills that will accelerate Infiniti’s progress in the global premium market.”
Experience in the auto industry
During his tenure at Bayerische Motoren Werke AG (ETR:BMW), Krueger supervised the sales of the German automaker in the region in his recent position. Prior to that, he served as president and CEO of BMW in Japan. He also became the head of the Product and Price Planning and head of Regional Marketing for Asia Pacific, Africa and East Europe. He started his career at BMW as manager of Strategic Product Planning.
Krueger worked as interiors and exteriors designer at Mitsubishi Motors (OTCMKTRS:MMTOF) in 1992. He also worked as senior designer, SMART interiors at Daimler EG (ETR:DAI) in 1994 and eventually become senior designer in the Strategic Planning Group of the company.
The leadership of Nissan Motor Co Ltd (ADR) (OTCMKTS:NSANY) (TYO:7201) had been searching for a new executive to lead Infiniti since the departure of Johan Johan de Nysschen in July. Nysschen joined General Motors Company (NYSE:GM) to lead the Cadillac brand.
Early this month, Andy Palmer, the executive vice president, chief planning officer and member of the executive committee of Nissan Motor Co Ltd (ADR) (OTCMKTS:NSANY) decided to join Aston Martin Lagonda Ltd as CEO.
Chris Keeffe, spokesperson for Nissan Motors Co Ltd (ADR) (OTCMKTS:NSANY) said Palmer’s departure will not affect the company’s business. Philippe Klein, the executive vice president at Renault will assume the role of chief planning officer.
