GM Names Infiniti Chief Nysschen As Cadillac President

General Motors Company (NYSE:GM) appointed Johan de Nysschen as president of its Cadillac brand. Nysschen is the head of the Infiniti luxury brand of Nissan Motor Co., Ltd. (ADR) (OTCMKTS:NSANY).

According to the largest automaker in the United States, Nysschen will join the executive leadership team of General Motors Company (NYSE:GM) as executive vice president starting August 1. He will be reporting to GM President Dan Ammann.

Nysschen brings vast experience in luxury automotive brands to GM. Prior to his position at Infiniti, he served as CEO of Audi USA for eight years and president of Audi Japan for five years.

General Motors Company (NYSE:GM) said Nysschen will be responsible  in overseeing all aspects of the business operations of its Cadillac brand including sales, pricing, network development, strategic brand development, marketing and product portfolio planning.

Nysschen is also expected to provide critical input for product engineering and design of Cadillac vehicles.

In a statement, Amman said Nysschen will bring to general Motors Company (NYSE:GM) his vast experience in the development and proper execution of luxury car brands. “With over 20 years in this exact space, especially in the development of the Audi brand, his track record proves he is the perfect executive to lead Cadillac for the long term,” said Amman

Nysschen admires GM’s transformation

Nysschen said he admired how the new General Motors Company (NYSE:GM) transformed itself as a “formidable force” in the auto industry. According to him, Cadillac will be able to restore its position among the premium brands globally with the combination of GM’s strong corporate leadership and exceptional engineering resources.

“The recognition of the brand is immense, and the progress on the fundamental product front is widely acclaimed. I am delighted for the opportunity to join the GM executive team to lead the Cadillac business, and I look forward to working with my Cadillac colleagues and our global retail partners,” said Nysschen.

GM’s Cadillac is the fastest-growing luxury brand

General Motors Company (NYSE:GM) boasted that Cadillac is the fastest-growing luxury brand in the auto industry worldwide. In 2013, Cadillac’s sales rose approximately 30%. The automaker introduced new models of Cadillac at an aggressive pace recently such as the CTS dubbed as the 2014 Motor Trend Car of the Year.
