Washington, DC .-  On Tuesday October 1st, representatives of the National TPS Alliance will meet with Salvadoran President, Nayib Bukele, for a conversation about the fate of TPS and its thousands of beneficiaries and their families. This is the first time that President Bukele hears directly from the families impacted by the cancelation of TPS.

National TPS alliance details

TPS beneficiaries have been placed in limbo after the current US Administration issued an executive order to terminate TPS and Salvadorans under its protection could face deportation by January 2nd, 2020.   If the executive order, currently under legal scrutiny, is found to be constitutionally permissive, hundreds of thousands of Salvadorans will be deported. This outcome would have devastating effects for our families, for our adoptive homeland and for our country of origin.  It is therefore of extreme importance and mutual benefit that TPS holders and the Salvadoran government collaborate to protect TPS and situate its beneficiaries on a path to permanent residency.

The National TPS Alliance will share with President Nayib Bukele our plans to defend TPS and its beneficiaries and how we can coordinate and support each other’s  efforts since we have the same goals. The National TPS Alliance will continue to fight through the judicial process, in the court of public opinion, in congress and in every locality where there is a TPSiano or a TPSiana.

We look forward to engage in a constructive dialogue with President Nayib Bukele, and most of all, we expect that this conversation leads to joint advocacy to protect TPS holders and their loved ones.
