TPS Holders Letter
The letter authored by Jose Palma, National Coordinator and others, urges President Bukele to “join our struggle as we fight for the right to remain in a country that we’ve called home for decades.”
“In the US, there is an effort to rip us apart from our families and disregard the enormous contributions we have made to this country for decades. Not only are we homeowners, business owners here, but hundreds of thousands of our children were born here and have been raised in these communities. We do not reject our native land of El Salvador, but rather we recognize our right to migrate and to remain in the United States.”
“Two years ago, this administration terminated the Temporary Protected Status program days after he insulted our countries by calling them Shitholes. We quickly learned, through declassified materials that there was a deliberate effort to cut protections simply because of the color of our skin. Our children, US Citizens have led a national effort to sue the Trump administration for their unlawful termination.”
“The only solution for TPS Holders is a permanent solution. In May of this year, Congress passed a historic legislation the Dream & Promise Act that grants us a path towards permanent residency. This is the fight we need you to respect. Anything less would be insufficient to protect hundreds of thousands of TPS holders and their US Citizen children.”
