The Kodi 18.5 Leia update is now available for download. However, given that Kodi 19 is just around the corner, the 18.5 update won’t bring with it a lot of new features. This update should provide more stability and improve the usability of the popular media software.
Here’s what’s new in the Kodi 18.5 Leia update
The Kodi team explained what’s new in the 18.5 Leia update in a post on their website. They explained that most users won’t even see most of the changes included in the update unless it fixes a problem they had stumbled across in regular use. However, all the fixes provided were for real bugs. If you want to read the full changelog for the Kodi 18.5 Leia update, you can do so via Github here, but for your ease, we have summarized the changes here.
For the interface, the update provides info fixes for Estuary and the GUI and adds dual support for Artist Slideshow 2.x and 3.x. It also provides a fix to always allow the Black screen saver and corrects the incorrect sort order for music playlists.
The Kodi 18.5 Leia update also fixes playback of external subtitles and support for archives over UPnP. It corrects the options “queue item” and “play next” for STRM files using a Plugin URL. Other corrections for the playback operations include fixes for the “hide watched” status and to resume handling when the user marks a file as unwatched.
Android users may notice some changes, especially for windowing, the secure decoder and SDK versions. The update also adds support for the iPhone 11 and seventh-generation iPad. Additionally, it corrects touch input, overlapping drawing surfaces and other issues in iOS. MacOS users may notice windowing changes which render the entire screen correctly instead of only part of it.
The update also brings improvements to log files and Shoutcast and a number of other improvements and fixes to ad-on settings and other parts of the software.
