Two hacker groups Pangu and TaiG have been working hard to release a jailbreak for Apple’s iOS 9.2. Earlier in December, TaiG partner 3K Assistant claimed that they had achieved a breakthrough in the iOS 9.2 jailbreak, and it would soon be released to the public. Now 3K Assistant’s original post on Kuaiyong has been quietly edited to remove the jailbreak confirmation part of the post without any apparent reason.
No breakthrough in iOS 9.2 jailbreak
The previously enthusiastic jailbreaking community is disappointed, and now looks at TaiG’s efforts with skepticism. The revised post contradicts the previous message that the team had achieved a breakthrough in jailbreaking the newest version of iOS just eight days after its release. The original version of 3K Assistant’s post read:
iOS 9.2 official version has been released from the past eight days, and in eight days, 3K Assistant has been working hard on jailbreaking iOS 9.2. The effort has finally been rewarded as after eight days of struggle, 3K Assistant has made a breakthrough on iOS 9.2 jailbreak.
But the new version says:
At this moment, jailbreaking iOS 9.2 has not succeed yet. Fellow jailbreakers please be patient in looking forward to it. If there is any update on the progress, we will follow up instantly.
It is clear that the revised version tells an entirely different story. It is unclear if the TaiG and 3K Assistant had indeed achieved a breakthrough or 3K Assistant simply published positive news that was not true at all. There has been intense competition between jailbreaking teams to release an untethered jailbreak for iOS 9.2. Pangu had successfully released a jailbreak for iOS 9. But with the 9.1 and 9.2 updates, Apple fixed the loopholes that Pangu had exploited in the original version of the OS.
Don’t fall prey to jailbreak scams
A large number of iOS users are desperately waiting for the iOS 9.2 jailbreak. It has prompted some hackers to release fake jailbreaking tools for those looking to liberate their iOS devices. The jailbreaking files you download may actually be a malware or trojan that could crash your device. Pangu and TaiG are two of the most well-known jailbreaking teams. Until there is an official announcement from either of them, it’s best to wait rather to going to other channels.
