Amazon, the world’s largest shopping site, offers so many products and options that it’s easy to spend a good bit of time browsing the site. Sometimes people are actually looking to purchase a specific item, but often they are just price shopping. It’s always a good idea to be an informed consumer, and many people by habit  check the prices in-store and then on Amazon to ensure that they are getting the best deal.

However, did you know that when browsing on Amazon, the site adds all the items that you’ve viewed to its browsing history, and those items can also appear as suggestions. If you are on a public computer, or in an office, then your browsing history can possibly reveal too much information about products that you are interested in.

The good news is that there’s a way to delete or clear search history on Amazon, and apart from clearing out the history, you can also turn off your browsing history so that Amazon never records your buying habits.

How to delete browsing history on Amazon

Head over to Amazon.com, sign-in if you are not already, and click on the “Your Account” link at the top right.

Scroll down on this page, and from the Personalization section, click on “View and Edit Your Browsing History.”

From this page, you can look through your history category wise, or all at once. You can also click on “Delete this item” to delete a particular product, or click on “Delete all items” button on the left side to delete all the items.

To turn off the browsing history so that Amazon never records it, click on the “Turn off your browsing history” link from the left side. On the next page, click on the “Turn off browsing history” button.

It’s that quick and easy to keep your browsing on Amazon private. Note that turning off this feature will turn it off for anyone who uses your web browser.
