This could be our first look at the upcoming smartphone’s original design
Is Samsung’s next flagship smartphone Galaxy S6 going to look like Apple’s iPhone 6? The pretty reliable SamMobile has obtained a leaked image of the device that shows a surprisingly iPhone 6-like design. The Galaxy S6 is expected to debut at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona on March 2. This leaked image was first tweeted by Antonio Monaco, and SamMobile believes the leak is legit.
Why would Samsung mimic the iPhone 6?
It shows the shape of the smartphone. The device is expected to have a unibody metal chassis that will make it look even more like the iPhone 6. SamMobile says there have been a lot of rumors about the Galaxy S6 hardware and software, but this could be our first look at the upcoming smartphone’s original design. The Home button appears slightly taller and more circular than the Galaxy S5’s Home button.
In yet another similarity to Apple’s phones, the headphone jack has been moved to the bottom of the phone. The microUSB port is at the bottom. The leaked image shows that the ambient light sensor, proximity sensor, and front camera have been moved from the right side of the earpiece to the left-hand side. The volume buttons are on the left side, and they are two separate buttons, just like in the iPhone 6.
Why would Samsung want to mimic the design of iPhones? Maybe because there are a large number of customers who want a smartphone with the design beauty of an iPhone, but with Android operating system. A separate report claims that the Galaxy S6 will have a 5-inch display, slightly smaller than that of its predecessor.
Galaxy S6 reaches India for testing purposes
On January 30, Samsung shipped two units of what is believed to be Galaxy S6 (Model SM-G920V) to India for testing and evaluation purposes, according to Indian export-import tracking site Zauba. The listing says the smartphone has a 5-inch display. The phone’s import price is $405 (INR 25,169), but its actual price could be higher.
Last week, mobile accessories maker Spigen listed its cases for Galaxy S6 on e-commerce websites including Amazon. The listing offers a detailed look at the rear panel of the device. It revealed that the heart rate sensor and LED flash have been moved the right side of the camera. The Galaxy S6 is expected to feature a Super AMOLED display, 3GB RAM, 20-megapixel main camera, 5-megapixel front camera, 2550mAh battery, in-built wireless charging, and Exynos 7420 processor.
