For instance, reposting the same content across every social channel is an ill-advised decision as each platform has a specific audience and requires a unique delivery. Also, employing every social channel available may appear like a solid strategy but too many platforms can lead to dull, deficient content. Today, companies around the world spend millions of dollars advertising, attempting to appeal to audience members, some of whom are truly interested in the product while the others are just followers. Before spending this money, it is imperative for companies to narrow in on exactly who they should be targeting.

Finding The Perfect Audience

The first step to take to find your perfect audience is examining the surroundings and conditions of your social media platform. A user needs to feel like there is something valuable they are being given from your content. A good question to ask is: Is your content entertaining? Educational? Relatable?

Examining the foundation of your platform is also important to do and this can be done by research. Data can show where content can be improved and/or which content is not engaging users. Relating to data, demographics tell us a lot about exactly who users are from age to gender to annual salary- all important pieces to know when crafting and sharing content.

The next step is to consider the tone and timing of your content. The tone is the voice or personality that shines through your content and, essentially, how you communicate with the content to grow new audiences. Timing gives you the control when to reach a new or current audience based on the demographics data and what type of content you are sharing.
