Facebook Inc (NASDAQ:FB) recently unveiled a new Look Back feature to celebrate its 10th birthday. The feature allows users to create a short video containing their best moments shared on the social networking site since they joined Facebook. It shows when you joined Facebook, your first comments, most popular photos, posts, and more while music plays in the background.

But there are many people who hate their Look Back. Maybe it shows too many photos of their ex, or they don’t like the video at all. Don’t worry, Facebook Inc (NASDAQ:FB) will soon allow you to edit your Look Back video. A company spokesperson told TechCrunch that the social networking giant is already working on the edit tool. It will allow people to change moments in their videos or replace them with a new one. When Facebook Inc (NASDAQ:FB) began rolling out the Look Back videos, the edit tool was expected to come at the same time. Another proof is that Facebook’s support page for “Look Back” has a question about editing your movie. It says you can make changes to your video by clicking on the “Edit Your Movie” button, which doesn’t exist yet.
Videos to help Facebook boost user engagement?
Facebook Inc (NASDAQ:FB) is getting into video advertising. The company is working on video automation, and developing a user interface for tweaking videos. So, the edit tool in the Look Back feature is not going to be a one-off thing. You can recap the past year on New Year’s Day. Facebook has built the base functionality. And the company can turn it into a regularly occurring feature by tweaking the algorithms.
Keeping users engaged has become increasingly important for Facebook Inc (NASDAQ:FB) as its user growth is slowing. Also, reports of teens moving to new, cooler apps isn’t a good sign for the company. Maybe, improved video recaps in Look Backs can help it boost user engagement.
