No surprise here, Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL)’s iPhone and iPad are preferred over Android devices among business users. This report comes from Egnyte, a cloud storage service.

The company tracked 100,000 customers for this report and they discovered that there are more iOS users than Android users. Egnyte sells online storage and file sharing service. Because of this, the company is able to uncover which operating system their customers use to access the service.

Data for early 2013 shows that 48% of users use Egnyte for their iPhone, whereas 30% use it for the iPad. Only 22% of the users use Egnyte for their Android devices, this number includes smartphones and tablets.

Compare these numbers to the number from 2012 and you will see a significant change. Back then there was a 42% share for the iPhone, 27% for the iPad, and 30% for Android.  Other mobile devices have declined by 1 percent.

Compared to last year, data shows an increase for Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) and a decrease for Android. Egnyte summed it up for TechCrunch, “Apple seems to have at least temporarily won the hearts and minds of business users with its products accounting for about 70 percent of our traffic.”

The data findings are basically comparisons of the two leading smartphone operating system makers. Since it doesn’t include other, less popular operating systems, there is a question on accuracy.

Egnyte further explained to Tech Crunch, “While initially iPads dominated our use, iPhones have taken over.  2011 use showed the iPad accounting for 40 percent of our usage, in 2012 iPhones are now 42 percent of usage, and Android has remained constant at about 30 percent of use. There are two interesting points here, first, Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) seems to have at least temporarily won the hearts and minds of business users with its products accounting for about 70 percent of our traffic. This is important because it’s a flip-flop from the days of old, where Apple products were rarely seen in the corporate landscape.”

Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL)’s iPhone is a popular gadget and the iPad is not far behind. Studies like this show that the popularity of the iPhone is not waning.
