BlackBerry Ltd Offers Black Friday Deals On Passport, Z30

BlackBerry Ltd (NASDAQ:BBRY) (TSE:BB) has joined the flurry of technology companies and retail chains offering deals on the newest gadgets for Black Friday. Shoppers may be interested in knowing that they can get $200 off an unlocked Passport or $275 off a BlackBerry Z30.

Black Friday deals on BlackBerry devices

ZDNet‘s Matthew Miller reports that between now and Nov. 30, shoppers can buy a SIM-unlocked BlackBerry Passport at $200 off for $499 from Amazon.com, Inc. (NASDAQ:AMZN)’s website and also the ShopBlackBerry site. The question now is whether this Black Friday promotion will convince any smartphone buyers to go BlackBerry instead of Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL). The 16-gigabyte iPhone 6 starts out at $649, putting the square-shaped BlackBerry Passport at a significant discount.

The same Black Friday deal also offers something shoppers who don’t want a QWERTY keyboard on their smartphone and / or just aren’t interested in the oddly shaped Passport. They can pick up a BlackBerry Z30 touchscreen smartphone for $225, which is $275 off the regular price tag.

Shoppers who don’t have all the cash right now can buy either BlackBerry smartphone during the Black Friday sale and then pay it off interest-free over the next six months if they use PayPal.

Other Black Friday deals

Of course there are plenty of other Black Friday deals on devices. Apple’s iPhone 6 and iPad Air 2 are both on sale at various retailers. Target Corporation (NYSE:TGT) and Wal-Mart Stores, Inc. (NYSE:WMT) are both offering gift cards along with the purchase of the iPhone 6 or iPad Air 2.

Target is offering a $140 gift card with the purchase of an iPad Air 2, leaving the final purchase price of the tablet at $59. Wal-Mart has cut the price of the iPhone 6 by $20 and is offering a $75 gift card with the purchase of the smartphone. Best Buy Co Inc (NYSE:BBY) is also offering deals on the iPhone 6 for its Black Friday shopping event. Apple highlighted Black Friday deals on its own website, promoting store gift cards in addition to its gadgets.

Shares of BlackBerry rose more than 1% during regular trading today.
