It has been widely reported that Apple is planning to release a trio of smartphones later this year, and the iPhone 11 could be the biggest iPhone yet.

Bloomberg reported on Monday that Apple has a phone with a very large display in development, which would make it the biggest iPhone yet – with perhaps a larger screen than even recent flagships from the likes of Samsung.

“With the new lineup, Apple wants to appeal to the growing number of consumers who crave the multitasking attributes of so-called phablets while also catering to those looking for a more affordable version of the iPhone X,” Bloomberg reports.

Apple will likely announce the new trio of devices this fall, with a shipment coming shortly afterward. Whether the iPhone 11 could be the biggest iPhone yet remains to be seen, and it will be a little while before we have a confirmation of this report, but industry insiders seem to think that the news regarding this upcoming flagship is legitimate.

Although the iPhone X was the most hyped phone in recent months with an innovative FaceID technology that brought something brand new to the market, sales hadn’t been as high as the company was expecting. Apple reportedly sold 77.3 million iPhones in the quarter of 2017, which fell short of analysts’ projections of around 80.2 million units. A large contributor to these lower sales could have been the price, with a $1000 price tag shocking many customers. If Apple can manage to offer something with a souped-up design and packing the power that iPhone X users love, and manage to do so at a lower price, they may have a winning formula on their hands.

If the iPhone 11 could be the biggest iPhone yet, there’s also the possibility that it would pull more sales away from Samsung – a company that has long been known for their top-notch displays. With the iPhone X, Apple came closer to the quality that these Samsung flagships offer in terms of display, and if they further close the gap there could be few reasons to side with Samsung outside of preferring the Android operating system. As phones get more similar in terms of performance, a flagship has to offer something new if they want to stand apart from the crowd. While the iPhone 11 could be the biggest iPhone yet, it will need to bring something more to the table if it wants to stand out from the other two phones Apple is bringing to market – and especially if Apple wants to outclass Samsung.

“With a screen close to 6.5 inches, Apple’s big new handset will be one of the largest mainstream smartphones on the market. While the body of the phone will be about the same size as the iPhone 8 Plus, the screen will be about an inch larger thanks to the edge-to-edge design used in the iPhone X.”

The iPhone 11 could be the biggest iPhone yet, but the company will also reportedly release at least one more budget-friendly device. With a more accessible version of the phone, Apple stands to capture a larger portion of the market that was alienated by the exorbitant price of the iPhone X.
