Apple  just pushed shipping dates for the iPhone 5 a little, just hours after the sixth generation smartphone became available for pre-sale on the Apple store website.

Apple Pushes Shipping Date For iPhone 5 Back A Little

According to Apple’s official online store, the iPhone 5 is set to launch in  stores on September 21, unfortunately the pre-order page says that all three versions including the 16GB, 32GB, and 64GB will be shipped in just two weeks if they ordered it today.

Apple made previous claims that the iPhone 5 would be available through stores and online starting September 21 and people could pre-order the gadget on September 14. The iPhone 5 page stated that if the phone was ordered online, it would ship by September 21, which was soon replaced by a special notice that states it will be available to ship in two weeks.

TechCrunch reported that Apple changed the estimated shipping dates within the first hour it was available for pre-sale. This is impressive, especially considering that it took twenty-two hours for the iPhone 4s to sell out, and twenty hours for the iPhone 4 to sell out during the pre-order period.

Right now the iPhone 5 is available for pre-order through carriers AT&T, Sprint, and Verizon. At press time, all three of the major US phone carriers will ship the phone on September 21. There is still no word on when Virgin Mobile and Cricket will get the sixth generation Apple smartphone.

People who don’t pre-order the iPhone can buy at at stores on September 21. It will be available at Apple stores, Best Buy Co., Inc. (NYSE:BBY), and RadioShack Corporation (NYSE:RSH), as well as most major retail stores like Wal-Mart Stores, Inc. (NYSE:WMT) and Target Corporation (NYSE:TGT).

Apple has done it again! Their iPhone 5 has exceeded expectations and is selling well, despite reservations.  Apparently, people don’t mind the fact they’ll have to buy brand new accessories for their phone, thanks to the smaller dock connectors. Over time, we will find out if the iPhone 5 outsells all other generations of the iconic smartphone.
