Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) will apparently postpone the launch of its rumored Apple TV beyond next week, according to TechCrunch columnist and Google Ventures partner M.G. Siegler. The columnist said that Apple TV will not be launched during the coming event on Tuesday. Siegler wrote that though the delay is not yet confirmed, there is buzz that the Apple TV launch will be delayed slightly.
“Well, now I feel the need to pour a little — just a little, mind you — cold water on the rumor fire,” Siegler said in his blog.
Siegler estimates release in November
Earlier, in August, Siegler himself said that Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) was looking forward to launching refurbished Apple TV hardware in November. Analysts are expecting that the hardware, called Apple TV, will not exactly be a TV but rather will be a “new style” version of Apple’s existing set-top streamer.
On Twitter, Siegler referred to his earlier blog post and said that he is hoping that those users waiting for the software refresh will really be excited when the Cupertino-based firm launches its TV next month.
Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) came up with Apple TV software 6.0 towards the end of September after integrating the support for new features such as iTunes Radio.
Apple may release a refreshed version
For the ‘new style’ TV, Siegler said this may not be the right time for Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) to launch the device. He said that chances are minimal that Apple will hold a third event to launch the TV.
“It’s hard to imagine Apple holding a third event following the iPhone one in September and the iPad event next week,” he said. “But who knows? Not me, this time.”
Siegler doubts that Apple will launch an entirely new set-top streamer in the weeks ahead, but sees the possibility of an upgraded version to be released with some additional specs on Tuesday.
Last week, Apple TV was still unavailable on Amazon’s German and French websites until October 23, which is the date of Apple’s event, strengthening the possibility of a new product.
Other gadgets expected to be launched
Gadgets that Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) is expected to unveil during the October 22nd event include a new iPad, which is expected to be slimmer, lighter and inspired by iPad mini design. Another gadget will be the new iPad mini, which is expected to feature a Retina Display. However, there has been recent news raising concerns over production of the iPad mini and availability to sell throughout the holiday season.
