Nokia Corporation (NYSE:NOK) (BIT:NOK1V) (HEL:NOK1V) has been rumored to be working on a Windows tablet for some time, and now Tom Warren of The Verge reports that we will be seeing the device very soon. The site also says sources have leaked the tablet’s specs to them.

Nokia tablet looks like a Lumia

According to the website, the device is code-named Sirius and is 10.1 inches in size. It will run on Windows RT and looks like it obviously belongs in Nokia’s Lumia of Windows Phones.

The device is expected to be thinner than the current model of the iPad and weigh a little over a pound. The body of the tablet is expected to be colored, and it will have a 6-megapixel camera in the rear and a 2-megapixel camera in the front. The display is expected to have a resolution of 1920 x 1080 and be improved to work well even outdoors.

Sources reportedly told The Verge that Nokia Corporation (NYSE:NOK) (BIT:NOK1V) (HEL:NOK1V)’s new tablet will run on a Snapdragon 800 processor made by QUALCOMM, Inc. (NASDAQ:QCOM).  It is also expected to have 2 GB or RAM. Nokia is said to be trying to get the device to offer 10 hours of battery life complete with LTE connectivity.

Other features of Nokia’s new tablet

The site reports that Nokia will price the new tablet around the same price as the iPad, although it won’t initially start out trying to undercut Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL)’s tablet. Nokia Corporation (NYSE:NOK) (BIT:NOK1V) (HEL:NOK1V) is also said to be working on a keyboard accessory for the tablet which comes with a battery to extend the life of the device even further.

The new tablet is expected to be unveiled at the event Nokia Corporation (NYSE:NOK) (BIT:NOK1V) (HEL:NOK1V) has planned for Sept. 26. The company’s 6-inch Windows Phone, which is codenamed Bandit, is expected to be offered some time later this year.
