Herbalife Ltd. Names Filipino Doctor To Nutrition Advisory Board

Herbalife, the global seller of nutrition and weight loss products, announced the appointment of Dr. Francis Gregory Samonte to its Nutrition Advisory Board.

Dr. Samonte is a pediatric neurology expert and the first Filipino to be appointed in the company’s Nutrition Advisory Board on January 1, 2016. He is currently based in Manila. He is a member of the Philippine Medical Association.

Dr. Samonte graduated from De La Salle University College of Medicine in 1995. He also studied at medical institutes in the United States including John Hopkins University and Harvard Medical School. He was a recipient of the Chairman’s Achievement Award by the Department of Pediatrics, University of Louisville. Kentucky.

Dr. Samonte actively supports charities in his country as a member of the Board of Directors of Community Based Resources in Zambales.

Herbalife expands nutrition and health experts from Asia Pacific.

Herbalife said the appointment of Dr. Samonte strengthens its Nutrition Advisory Board and reflects the company’s further expansion of health and nutrition experts from Asia Pacific.

Dr. Samonte will play a key role in raising public awareness and lead educational programs on balanced nutrition, healthy, and active lifestyle in 15 countries, which are part of the Herbalife Asia Pacific Wellness Tour initiative in the region.

Herbalife Nutrition Advisory Board

According to Herbalife, its Nutrition Advisory Board is composed of 30 leading experts in the field of health and nutrition from around the world. These experts educate and train the company’s independent members regarding the principles of a healthy lifestyle, nutrition, and physical activity.

David Heber, M.D., Ph.D. is the Chairman of Herbalife Nutrition Advisory Board. Dr. Heber is the Founding Director of the Center for Human Nutrition at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA).
Dr. Heber recently went to Manila for the fourth Herbalife Asia Pacific Wellness Tour, which included an obesity seminar attended by Filipino medical practitioners.

Some of the other distinguished members of the company’s Nutrition Advisory Board are Dr. Lou Ignarro, a Nobel laureate in Physiology or Medicine in 1998 for his discovery of nitric oxide’s health benefits, and Dr. Gary Small, a specialist in brain health and aging and a recipient of numerous awards and honors, including the “Senior Investigator Award” from the American Association for Geriatric Psychiatry.
