Chiang emphasized the importance of mobile gaming and mobile socialization in general. He also talked about what FarmVille 2 would look like on a tablet compared to other devices.

“You can see the detail on a bigger farm and be able to manipulate things, getting a full experience on a tablet,” he said.

Chiang said he expects FarmVille and a number of Zynga Inc (NASDAQ:ZNGA)’s other ‘Ville games to come to tablets by the end of this year.

He also spoke about the monetization of FarmVille 2 versus the original FarmVille. He explained that the monetization of the two games is different because the original game peaked at around 30 million players. He also noted that they noticed that their users were moving to mobile, so he felt that it was important to change their monetization process so that it would take into account mobile playing.

Of course Zynga Inc (NASDAQ:ZNGA) shut down a number of its games in recent months as part of its cost-cutting measures, and Chiang also addressed the apparent change in pace of the company’s releases this year. He said the company is “focusing on fewer, better.” He said their goal is to make games with the potential to become franchises. He said the stronger the games are, the higher their hit ratio will be.
