A video appeared online and shortly went viral, making everyone believe that it showed direct evidence of a UFO. The video revealed a site on a remote island in South Georgia, with a crashed UFO. However, when the site is explored more closely, it turns out that the object that was suspected to be a UFO is, in fact, just a rock that broke off from a mountain that is located nearby.
Secureteam10 is behind this viral video that was uploaded to YouTube, and in a short time it intrigued 1.58 million viewers since it was originally uploaded on March 3. The video shows evidence of an apparent UFO that crashed on the South Georgian remote island, located about 2,500 miles from the Antarctic Peninsula.
“Unknown Object Leaves Trail of Mystery in Antarctic,” the introductory text reads, giving the effect of a high-quality movie trailer that had been expected for a long time.
The narrator of the video used Google Earth in order to introduce the audience to the remote island and the crash site. According to him, the object appears to “be some sort of massive, elongated or cigar-shaped object that at some point- and we don’t know when- came to a screeching halt in the snow leaving behind it almost a thousand meter long trail.”
He also talks about “some damage that has been done to the side of a [nearby mountain] where we can see this wave of debris extending outwards from the mountain itself, with the main object and trail coming out of it, smashing its way in a very sharp trail,” also adding that “it doesn’t look like your typical trail made by a snowball or a … piece of ice tumbling and rolling across the hillside.”
The narrator also added that the object is likely a spacecraft, referring to it as something artificial. He said that it measured roughly 206 feet in length.
SecureTeam proclaims itself as “your source for alien & UFO related videos, leaks, and information,” although they made a mistake this time. Dave Petley, a geologist, referred to the evidence of the UFO to the damaged mountain nearby. In “The Landslide Blog,” he wrote that the object believed to be a spacecraft is a boulder that fell off the mentioned mountain.
Petley Writes:
Of course the runout trail is quite unusual. I am not sure if a block has detached from within the mass, and then moved downslope, or if it tumbled onto the mass from above, and then slid. If I was a betting man (and I am not) I might go for the latter explanation, but without a more detailed investigation I am speculating. But either way this is conventional landslide behavior on snow and ice covered surfaces, and we have seen other large isolated boulders travel long distances. In this case the elongate shape of the block favoured sliding rather than rolling, but as the friction of the substrate is low the distance travelled can be large.
Secureteam10 for sure made a convincing video, but sadly not convincing enough for a professional geologist. The video can be watched below.
