Tekken 7 game details were leaked by American Online inadvertently through a video posted on IGN. The video showed game series’ producer Katsuhiro Harada mentioning about Namco Bandai’s Tekken 7 using Unreal Engine 4, which is the latest version of the game engine developed by Epic games.
After the leak, Namco Bandai confirmed Tekken 7. Also, a trailer have been made available, carrying a phrase “The final battler,” which does not necessarily means that the part is last from the franchisee.
Will Tekken 7 support multi-platform?
“With Unreal Engine 4, we can rapidly achieve the visual quality expected on next-gen platforms and go beyond it,” the producer said in the video.” He added that Unreal Engine 4 is more powerful and simpler to use and can port Tekken 7 on any platform. According to VG247, Harada has announced that the game will be released on the next-gen consoles. Harada kept quite on any specific platforms for Tekken 7, but Cinema Blend is expecting that it will be released on new generation consoles such as Playstation4 and Xbox One.
As of now, nothing has come out officially over the release date of the game, but if reports from KDrama are to be believed then, Harada has already stated back in January that Tekken 7 will not release in the market in 2014.
More titles in process
Harada said that Tekken is one of his life’s works, and it is not befitting to talk about it much at this point. He added that along with Tekken 7, the company is working on other titles, also. The producer said that out of all the titles under process, atleast two will be announced in 2014. He mentioned that there are few titles that are in the process, and “some we’ve been thinking about working on,” so year 2014 looks like a tough one.
Some players have found the older versions, especially Tekken 3 way more interesting that the successors. Tekken could not get much of the fan base even after enhanced graphics and motions. However, Tekken 7 may revive the franchise as the developers are betting on Unreal Engine 4.
