NEW YORK – Tesla’s annual Battery Day and shareholder meeting revealed plans to slash battery production costs, which the company said will allow Tesla to bring a $25,000 electric battery vehicle to market within three years.  Social media began buzzing around Battery Day late last week, resulting in more than 346,000 engagements from 32,000 mentions since Saturday, according to international social media analysis firm Talkwalker.

Key Themes From Tesla Battery Day

Some of the key themes mentioned in social media posts, include:

  • "Battery" was mentioned in 64 percent of posts
  • "Production" as related to batteries was mentioned in 34 percent of posts
  • "Semi" was mentioned in 14.9 percent of posts
  • "Electric vehicles" was mentioned in 13.7 percent of posts
  • The Cybertruck was mentioned in 13.5 percent of posts
  • The Roadster was mentioned in 12.6 percent of posts
  • The new "Plaid" mode was mentioned in 6.6 percent of posts

In the days before the event net sentiment was positive, hovering around 80 percent on Monday. Once the event started however, sentiment fell into the negative – at 44.4 percent, but had already returned to positive levels by Wednesday morning.

While most of the conversation took place in the U.S. (67.5 percent) other countries that had a good amount of discussion about Battery Day were: Germany, U.K., Canada, India and France.
