Washington, DC – While on his book tour in Pensacola, Florida, House Budget Committee Chairman Paul Ryan (R-WI) refused to say why he favors slashing Medicare and Medicaid in order to fund $5 trillion in tax breaks for millionaires and corporations.

Paul Ryan budget would end Medicare
The Paul Ryan budget would end Medicare as we know it by turning it into a voucher program and raising the Medicare eligibility age to 67. It would also fast-track cuts to Social Security and gut Medicaid, while at the same time providing a windfall for millionaires.
“If a politician is going to cut the benefits of the seniors who earned them, he could at least discuss the matter,” said Richard Fiesta, Executive Director of the Alliance for Retired Americans.
“I can see where he would dislike the question – who wants to defend the indefensible?” Fiesta asked.
