If you always wanted to play Blizzard’s mega-popular team-based shooter game Overwatch but never got a chance to play it for one reason or another (including money), you may finally get lucky next weekend. Blizzard is making the game free on the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC from September 22 through 25.

What all the players will get

“Attention, recruits! If you haven’t already had the opportunity to suit up and save the world as one of the heroes of Overwatch, now’s your chance,” the developer says in a post.

It is not the first time that Overwatch has been made free for a weekend. The game was made free last September and November and this past May. As always, players will be allowed to play with all 25 heroes across 16 maps in Arcade mode, Custom games and Quick Play. This will include players battling Talon agent Doomfist and the honorable robot Orisa, who just entered the game this year. Further, players will be allowed to earn loot boxes, level up and get fun customization rewards as well.

The free weekend will also include the new Deathmatch game modes. The weekend game will also include Junkrat and Roadhog’s stomping ground, given that the Junkertown map release date is only days before the start of the free weekend, notes GameRant. The Junkertown map will be available on all the supported gaming platforms starting on September 19.

The official description of the map says that Junkertown “is an Escort map located in the harsh and unforgiving Australian Outback. Constructed from the remains of a destroyed omnium, it’s now the home to a band of lawless scavengers known as the Junkers, led by their cutthroat Queen. When they aren’t pillaging the omnium’s skeleton for anything of value, the Junkers blow off steam in the Scrapyard—a massive gladiatorial arena whose combatants fight for glory, riches…and to survive.”

What you need to know about the Overwatch free weekend

Blizzard’s Overwatch already boasts more than 30 million players across the PC, PS4 and Xbox One. Blizzard, however, is not satisfied with the numbers; therefore, it wants players to try it for free to see for themselves how much they have been missing out on and hopefully, convince them to eventually buy the game. If you end up buying the game after the Overwatch free weekend, the game maker allows you to keep all the progress made during it, but you will have to use the same login.

To take part in the Overwatch free weekend, PS4 players will require a PlayStation Plus subscription, while for Xbox One players, an Xbox Live Gold membership is needed. Those planning to play the game on the PC will need Battle.net.

The Overwatch free weekend will start at 11 a.m. Pacific/ 2 p.m. Eastern on September 22 and will continue until 11:59 p.m. Pacific on September 25. For the PC, the free weekend is only for players in the Americas, Europe, and Asia (excluding Korea). For more information on the Overwatch free weekend offer, you can visit Blizzard’s website
