OnePlus is set to reveal its next-gen smartphones next month. As we move closer to the release date, the Chinese company is teasing users with unique features, giving potential buyers more reasons to wait for their favorite phone. The latest reason the company has given is that the OnePlus 7 Pro display has received the highest rating from DisplayMate.
Highest rating from DisplayMate
DisplayMate has given the top-end version of the OnePlus 7 series, the OnePlus 7 Pro, an A+ display rating in its lab tests. Such a rating means the OnePlus 7 Pro’s display is one of the best on the market.

DisplayMate uses professional instruments and mathematical analysis to measure the performance of a phone’s display and compare it with other products. DisplayMate’s A+ rating puts the OnePlus 7 Pro on par with phones like the Galaxy S10, iPhone XS Max and Pixel 3 XL. These phones also received an A+ rating from DisplayMate.
OnePlus CEO Liu Zuohu shared the news about DisplayMate’s rating on Weibo, saying, “DisplayMate is the most rigorous and authoritative display evaluation agency in the United States, and few products receive A-level certification.”
OnePlus also referenced the rating in a press release, saying it means their upcoming phone has “one of the best smartphone displays on the market.”
“Whether it’s color accuracy, brightness, contrast accuracy, or pixel density, the OnePlus 7 Pro delivers exceptionally good results for all parameters, giving the viewer a much better, sharper, and more enjoyable viewing experience,” the company said in a press release.
Further, the company said the phone will allow users to adjust the color range and color temperature to get the appropriate screen calibration.
Here’s what we know about t he OnePlus 7 Pro’s display
DisplayMate’s rating also gives us some idea about the display the upcoming phones will have. The rating suggests OnePlus is using a more premium panel for its next-gen phones than the displays used in previous models.
“DisplayMate’s in-depth Lab Tests of the OnePlus 7 Pro OLED Display have just been completed, earning our Highest A+ Display Rating. Our in-depth Display Shoot-Out will be published here on May 14,” DisplayMate said in a tweet.
The rating also confirms previous rumors that the OnePlus 7 Pro display will feature QHD resolution. This will mark the first time OnePlus is offering a panel above Full HD.
So far, in terms of the display, OnePlus has only revealed that it offers better color accuracy, brightness, contrast and pixel density, which translates into an enhanced viewing experience.
The OnePlus 7 Pro has also been certified by the VDE Testing and Certification Institute for its ability to detect and filter blue light. This certification means the device will enhance users’ eye comfort by adjusting the temperature and brightness. The handset will carry the Safety for Eyes certification when it comes out.
There is no further information on the OnePlus 7 Pro display panel. However, leaks so far suggest a 6.7-inch QHD+ (3120 x 1440 pixels) resolution display with the 90Hz refresh rate. In comparison, the OnePlus 6T features a full HD+ display with a 60Hz refresh rate. The higher the refresh rate, the smoother the touch experience. It helps with gaming as well.
Further, the OnePlus 7 Pro display panel is rumored to be curved toward the edges. OnePlus co-founder Pete Lau has already revealed that their upcoming phones’ displays will “redefine fast and smooth.”
What to expect from the OnePlus 7 Pro
OnePlus is scheduled to hold a launch event on May 14 to announce its next-gen smartphones. Reports suggest the Chinese company will reveal three phones this time: the OnePlus 7, 7 Pro, and 7 Pro 5G.
A recent teaser video of the OnePlus 7 Pro from the company shows a two-dimensional drawing. The video indicates the phone will have a triple-lens rear camera arranged vertically in the middle. Rumors suggest the phone will have a 48 MP primary lens, a 16 MP f/2.2 ultra-wide angle lens and an 8 MP f/2.4 telephoto lens.
Further rumors point to a 4,000 mAh battery with 30W Warp Charge. In terms of color options, reports suggest the phone will come in Nebula Blue, Mirror Grey and Almond. The phone is expected come in three variants. The 8 GB + 256 GB variant is expected to cost $749, while the 12 GB + 256 GB variant could be priced at $819. Pricing for the 6 GB variant is not known for now.
