NYSSA: Moynihan on Three Biggest Mistakes Investors Make 7/19 6PM

On July 19th, the The New York Society of Security Analysts of NYSSA’s Value Investing Committee presents Brendan-Moynihan on the topic of, the Three Biggest Mistakes Investors Make.

Brendan is  an editor-at-large for Bloomberg News, where he manages the popular column Chart of the Day and writes about the economy and Wall Street. Brendan is professor of finance  at Vanderbilt University’s Graduate school. He is the author of Trading on Expectations, co-author of What I Learned Losing a Million Dollars, and author of Financial Origami: How the Wall Street Model Broke. The seminar will focus mostly on Brendan’s book, What I learned Losing a Million Dollars.

Nassim Taleb, who tends to be extremely sparing with his compliments, called the book, The best finance book I know is What I Learned Losing A Million Dollars.” Taleb also references Brendan’s book, in Taleb’s extremely famous best-seller, The Black Swan. The book focuses on the various ways of beating the market; concentrated versus diversified, cigar butts versus GARP stocks, there is no one way to be a successful investor. What ensures success is using proper analysis and avoiding dangerous psychological traps.
I will be attending the seminar and hope to post a book review as well shortly.
