Daniel Craig will return as James Bond for the franchise’s 24th film next year.

SPECTRE (SPecial Executive for Counter-intelligence, Terrorism, Revenge and Extortion) Is back. The supranational organization, which first appeared in print (“Thunderball) in 1961 and on screen (“Dr. No) in 1962 is making its return in the newest chapter in the Bond pantheon next year.

Thursday saw director Sam Mendes take the 007 Stage at London’s Pinewood Studios to unveil the cast and details for the next installment in the Bond series. Joining Daniel Craig as James Bond will be newcomers Christoph Waltz, Monica Bellucci and Lea Seydoux. While Christopher Waltz should be great fun in his first Bond film; Craig, in his fourth role as James Bond, will again work with Ralph Fiennes as M, Naomie Harris as Eve Moneypenny, Rory Kinnear as Bill Tanner and Ben Whishaw as Q.

Cars and locations

No Bond film is complete without an iconic car and Mendes was pleased to announce the continuation of the franchise’s relationship with Aston Martin as he showed those in attendance the new DB10.

Shooting for “Spectre” will begin on Monday and will do its best to show Bond trying to reveal the terrible truth about SPECTRE as M wages a political battle to keep the secret service funded and functioning. In order for Bond to unravel SPECTRE’s tangled web he will once again have to travel the world and that means on location shooting. The locations that Mendes will shoot his film include: London, Rome, Tangier and Erfoud in Morocco, Mexico City, and Solden, Obertilliach and Lake Altaussee in Austria.

The last three locations ensure that Bond will once again return to the snow.

Spectre: More returnees and release dates

After bringing in $1.1 billion globally, it’s no surprise that “Skyfall” director Mendes was asked to return. He will be returning with  “Skyfall” screenwriters John Logan, Neal Purvis and Robert Wade as well for “Spectre.”

Spectre is expected to be ready for release on October 23rd next year in the U.K., followed by a November 6th, 2015 premiere in the U.S.

After what will be a three-year wait, Bond, James Bond, is back.
