Microsoft’s Windows 10 launch is now just a few weeks. As expected, the tech firm is sharing more details on how it will celebrate the debut of it’s much-awaited new Windows version on July 29th. The company has stated it believes the new OS will “transform how we use devices.”

Windows 10 success vital for Microsoft

Window 10, the latest version of Microsoft’s Windows operating system, will be launched globally on July 29th. The launch will be accompanied by fan celebrations, promotions from retailers including the Microsoft store locations, and a new ad campaign celebrating the year-long initiative making a “difference around the world,” said the Redmond-based firm.

Along with the new marketing campaign, the tech firm is also using the “upgrading the world” campaign to promote Windows 10. As a part of this campaign, the company will help users to move to the new version, along with partnering with some a number of global nonprofits.

Apart from the Microsoft stores, retailers such as Best Buy, Walmart and Staples will be offering help for an in-store upgrade, and “experience stations” to allow potential users try the new Windows version. The success of the Windows 10 and Microsoft will depend on the numbers of users upgrading to the new version.

First major launch for Nadella

This will be the first major product launch for Satya Nadella since taking over the CEO role a year and a half ago. Celebratory events are planned in New Delhi, Nairobi, Berlin, Sao Paolo, Sydney, Johannesburg, Madrid, Tokyo, Singapore, Beijing, Dubai, London and New York. “These celebrations will offer hands-on opportunities, experiential demos, entertainment and opportunities to meet the Windows team,” noted Microsoft.

In a conference on Monday, Nadella talked about the company’s vision, terming personal computing as a “bold ambition” for the future. The Microsoft CEO said Windows 10 will drive users into “new era of more personal computing. We couldn’t be more excited, three weeks away from launch.” He added that Window 10 is compatible with all devices, ranging from phones to tablets to Surface Hubs, and also the HoloLens.

This will be the first time that a Windows version will be offered as a free upgrade. The latest version of Windows includes features such as Cortana, a digital personal assistant, and integration with the gaming platform Xbox. The free upgrade is available for a limited time for Windows 7 and 8/8.1 devices
