Microsoft apparently plans to launch several devices at the same time in an event in October. Citing sources familiar with the company’s plans, The Verge says the company will unveil two new Lumia handsets, the Surface Pro 4 and the Microsoft Band 2 at the event. The news was first reported by Chinese website WPDang.

Surface Pro 4, Lumia 950 and Lumia 950 XL in October

The two new Lumia handsets and the Surface Pro 4 are said to be the focus of Microsoft’s hardware event. For several months now, there have been rumors about the Lumia 950 and Lumia 950 XL, and the specifications of both devices have already been leaked. What remains to be seen is how these devices look in reality and whether they are a good fit in Microsoft’s new Windows 10 Mobile ecosystem or not.

Microsoft’s Surface Pro 4 may not be very different from its predecessor as the tech firm made a promise to its business customers to keep the charging mechanism and the overall form factor the same. This in no way indicates that the company won’t be making big changes. It is possible that the Surface Pro 4 will be made thinner and lighter and have an increased display size and resolution. Rumors also suggest that Microsoft is planning Windows Hello support for the Surface Pro 4, but the likelihood of being able to fit an Intel RealSense camera into the thin device is very small. The chances of a fingerprint scanner on an updated and refined Surface keyboard are much higher.

Microsoft planning a few hardware surprises too?

At the October event, the company could also unveil the Band 2. Not much information about the rumored device is available, but considering the feedback on the original hardware, it can be expected that the second version will come with a much better look and feel, says the report.

Microsoft also reportedly has plans to show off one or two hardware surprises at the event, says the report. WPDang claimed that the company could unveil a slimmer version of the Xbox One, but this seems unlikely as the rumors about the console are very few. It is also likely that more Surface hardware will be launched at the event in addition to the much-anticipated Surface Pro 4. The company had plans of unveiling a Surface Mini last year with the Surface Pro 3, but a few weeks before the launch, those plans were scrapped, says the report.

Nothing is sure for now though, as the tech firm has not made an announcement about the October event.
