Cisneros is the first and only House primary challenger Rep. Ayanna Pressley has endorsed to date
LAREDO, TX – Today, Jessica Cisneros announced that she has received the endorsement of Congresswoman Ayanna Pressley (MA-07) in her Democratic primary in Texas’s 28th Congressional District against incumbent Rep. Henry Cuellar.

“Our country is at a crossroads, and as the Administration in Washington, DC continues to advance hateful, draconian policies targeting women, immigrants, and other marginalized communities, the experience and determination of candidates like Jessica Cisneros is more essential than ever,” said Rep. Pressley. “A human rights attorney, Jessica has devoted her life to fighting for those in her community – now, she is following that work to Congress, to stand up for everyone who is being targeted by this Administration. Rep. Pressley was elected to the House of Representatives in 2018, becoming the first woman of color elected to represent Massachusetts in Congress. Like Cisneros, Rep. Pressley ran in a primary challenge against a long-time incumbent Democrat. In her first term, Representative Pressley has sought to lift up the voices of community in policy making conversations around survivor justice, housing, transportation, immigration, the rights of workers, the rights of women, and many other issues, and to hold the Trump Administration accountable for their cruel and draconian policies.
Rep. Ayanna Pressley’s endorsement comes on the heels of the rollout of Cisneros’ grassroots campaign, People Power, her local initiative to collect the 500 necessary signatures to earn her way onto the ballot with community support.
