Apple’s much-awaited iPhone 7 is still several months away, but rumors about the device are in full swing. Now South Korean publication Business Korea says Apple’s next-gen smartphone could have an all-new ceramic finish, similar to the OnePlus X. The ceramic materials are most likely to be used on the back of the device. It is still too early to say what kind of new materials the Cupertino company will use, but the new report raises an interesting possibility.
Android phones like OnePlus X have demonstrated that ceramic materials offer a more premium feel, the kind that users associate with Apple products. The iPhone 7 is expected to bring radical changes in terms of design and specs. Giving it a ceramic finish would be a good place to start to make this year’s iPhone even more stylish than its predecessor.
The iPhone 7 is widely expected to ditch those ugly antenna bands on the rear body. The bands allow wireless signals to pass through more easily. Apple is also going to do away with the protruding camera. Antenna bands and bulging rear camera had somewhat ruined the look of current flagship iPhones. The iPhone 7 and its bigger sibling 7 Plus are also said to be waterproof and dustproof.
