The 4.7-inch version of the iPhone 6 is likely to be cheaper than the current iPhone 5S, new details coming from China claim. Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL)’s next-gen iPhone is rumored to come in two different screen sizes of 4.7-inch and 5.5-inch. The Chinese report also confirms the September 19 release date for both models. That’s the same date German telecom carrier Deutsche Telekom had previously revealed.
iPhone 6 may see a drop in price
The Chinese report claims that the 32GB 4.7-inch iPhone 6 will be priced at CNY 5,300 or $850, and the 64GB version will cost CNY 6,300 or $1,010. It means Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) may reduce the price of its upcoming device as the existing 16GB iPhone 5S costs CNY 5,300 in China and 64GB iPhone 5S comes at CNY 6,900. If rumors turn out to be true, we can expect a drop in international prices as well. It’s still unclear whether Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) would launch a 16GB version of the 4.7-inch iPhone 6 at all. The report also doesn’t provide pricing details of the 5.5-inch phablet model. Anyway, Apple’s manufacturing partner Foxconn Technology Co Ltd (TPE:2354) is hiring about 100,000 new employees before the iPhone 6 production begins in July. Another partner Pegatron Corporation (TPE:4938) is also increasing its workforce by 30%. Apple has split the iPhone 6 production between Foxconn and Pegatron by 70% / 30% respectively.
Apple hasn’t reduced iPhone 6 bezels
The iPhone 6 has lately been making a lot of online appearances. A few days ago, its 5.5-inch version was compared with other handsets such as LG G3 and Galaxy Note 3. A new video from MacMixing compares the dummy of the 5.5-inch iPhone with other similar size devices such as LG G3 and OnePlus One. In a side-by-side comparison, the phablet iPhone 6 is bigger than both other devices, though other smartphones also feature the same 5.5-inch display. It means Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) hasn’t reduced the bezels of the iPhone 6, making the overall device bigger in size. If the Cupertino-based company launches a device of this size, it would require massive design changes.
