Is the iPhone 6 Plus or the Galaxy Note 4 the better phablet? The iPhone 6 and 6 Plus have been plagued by manufacturing defects, from issues of the iPhone 6 Plus getting bent while riding in a pocket to people complaining that Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL)’s new phones pull their hair out.

Of course it’s entirely a matter of personal opinion when it comes to which phablet is better, but in spite of the endless string of problems with the iPhone 6 Plus, the folks at Phone Arena have put together a list of things the iPhone 6 Plus has that the Galaxy Note 4 doesn’t have.

For some smartphone buyers, any one of these features could be enough to tip the scales toward the iPhone 6 Plus. However, so far some reports suggest that smartphone buyers are favoring the Galaxy Note 4.

The exterior of the iPhone 6 Plus

For example, the iPhone 6 Plus has a very thin chassis at just 7.1 millimeters, making it one of the thinnest phones on the market. Of course it is this thinness that has contributed to the so-called “Bendgate scandal,” but some might still be intrigued by just how thin the chassis is.

Also the iPhone 6 Plus has a display that is 30% brighter than that of the Galaxy Note 4. The 6 Plus has a 2.5D zero air-gap LCD display, while the Note 4 has a quad HD AMOLED display. When comparing the two, the Phone Arena folks feel that the it’s easier to view the iPhone 6 Plus outdoors than it is the Note 4.

Additionally, the iPhone 6 Plus is easier to use with one hand while also making full use of the screen. The Note 4 resorts to shrinking the interface and then shifting it to the left or right, thus leaving the rest of the display blank. The iPhon6 Plus, however, can shift the whole interface down with a double-tap, making it easier to type in a web address or the name of a contact before sliding back up.

Apple’s phablet also has a special landscape mode for the user interface, which automatically slides into landscape mode when the device is turned on its side. However, Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. (LON:BC94) (KRX:005930)’s Galaxy Note 4 doesn’t have a specialized landscape mode.

Internal features

It seems as if many of the differences between the iPhone 6 Plus and the Galaxy Note 4 are only skin-deep, but the Phone Arena folks did name one internal feature they like better on Apple’s phablet. They believe the iPhone 6 Plus offers a better slow motion video mode. The smartphone pairs its A8 processor with optical image stabilization. The result is more fluid slow motion videos with 240 frames per second, compared to the Note 4’s 120 frames per second.
