Now that HTC Corp (TPE:2498) recently introduced their upcoming HTC One smartphone, many are ready to compare the specifications of the new device with the golden standard: iPhone 5.
Overall, the HTC One is larger than the iPhone 5. The former weighs 143 grams and measures 137.4 millimeters. The latter weighs 112 grams and measures 123.8 millimeters. The HTC One has a 4.7″ display whereas the iPhone has a 4″ display.
As for processors, Apple’s fifth generation smartphone uses the A6 dual core 1.3GHz. HTC One uses the Qualcomm 600 quad core 1.7GHz processor. This means that HTC One has a faster and more efficient processor than it’s rival. Another bonus for HTC? Their latest incarnation has 2 gigabytes of RAM. The iPhone 5 has just one gigabyte of RAM.
Both phones offer pretty much the same in storage options with 32GB and 64GB options. Since Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) also offers the iPhone 5 in 16GB options, that gives them a point. Neither phones allow room for a mircoSD card. Once again, both smartphones offer LTE, which is a standard for smartphones these days.
We already know that the iPhone 5 has a 8MP rear camera and 1.2MP front camera. The HTC One has 4.0MP rear camera and 2.1MP front camera.
The interesting thing about the HTC cameras is that despite it’s lower pixel number, it supposedly utilizes what they call ultrapixels. This means that there are less pixels but they are bigger in size. The camera also features 2.0 aperture and 1/3-inch backlit-CMOS sensor.
For operating systems, the HTC One uses Android 4.1.2 and iPhone uses iOS 6. Both phones offer access to thousands of apps from their respective app stores.
The iPhone 5 starts at $199 at AT&T Inc. (NYSE:T). Since the HTC One has yet to debut in retail stores(it will sometime next month), there is no pricing information for the gadget just yet.
