Intel Corporation (NASDAQ:INTC) is coming up with a latest enterprise-class solid drives generally known as SSDs with some unbreakable and powerful security and managements features to give business better protection against data failure and data breaches without compromising performance.
Intel quiet of price, availability dates
The brand new Intel SSD Pro 2500 series drives are available in 2.5-inch and M2 form factors, with storage capacities ranging from 120 GB to 480 GB. The company describes them as the latest professional class SSDs that are self-encrypting drives (SEDs) using hardware-based 256-bit encryption. The policy control offered by the drives is in-line with the standards from Computing Group’s OPAL 2.0 and Microsoft eDrive, like crypto erase capability
The new Intel SSDs offer sequential read speeds of 540 Mbps and sequential write speeds of 490 Mbps. Also, the random 4KB read/write speeds depend on the form factor and capacity.
According to Intel, the Pro 2500 Series drives are equipped with five advance power modes facilitating enhanced battery life and better mobile experience by balancing performance and power.
As of now, Intel gave no information on the pricing and available dates for the 10 new SSDs falling under Pro 2500 Series.

Rob Crooke, corporate vice president and general manager of Intel Corporation’s Non-Volatile Memory Solutions Group (NSG), said in a statement that there are numerous challenges faced by IT departments including need to protect assets, keep a check on the bottom line and make available the required tools to the employees.
The Intel SSD Pro 2500 Series is a complete solution of all these needs. “Adding the Pro 2500 Series to the Intel SSD Professional Family” provides a robust equipment to meet the IT needs of all sizes of businesses.
Along with boosting security features, Intel Corporation’s new SSDs are built to be remotely managed by IT departments via the company’s vPro technology featured in its enterprise class PC platforms. Intel is, also, looking forward to pitch the manageability of pro 2500 Series drives for embedded and Internet of Things systems and applications namely connecting to ATMs and digital signage.
Earlier this year, Intel hinted on its long-term plans to transform the traditional computer storage market by expanding in volatile memory business. The chip maker revealed that it is developing a new technology for solid state drives using NAND flash memory, which will end the dominance of spinning and mechanical storage devices.
