Intel Corporation (INTC) Unveils New SDI Software Suite

Updated on

Intel Corporation (NASDAQ:INTC) is all prepared to come up with a new suite of software that will particularly focus on the private cloud as well as OpenStack deployments and is aimed at administrators of data centers. This platform aims to bring more services that are software defined into infrastructure environments and also bring a reduction in deployment times that would lower the time from weeks to minutes. It is known as the “Intel Datacenter Manager: Service Assurance Administrator” (Intel DCM: SAA).

Problem recognition and solution

On Wednesday in San Francisco at Intel Corporation (NASDAQ:INTC)’s Tech to Watch seminar, the company’s data center marketing team’s vice president and general manager, Shannon Poulin, spoke about the gaps in technology deployment requirements.

“What we’re looking at right now is an industry in flux,” said Poulin. He added that there is an inclination toward cloud among people, and while few discuss their problems with the deployment of data center technology, others suggest solutions.

Intel Corporation (NASDAQ:INTC)’s data center software division’s vice president and general manager, Boyd Davis, emphasized that there are few problems with running on the cloud for enterprise workloads. Davis said that even though cloud has helped in improving efficiency, users have many expectations with regards to consistency and security issues that have not been met. The chip maker has seen that on-premise cloud environments are able to attract more businesses, said Poulin. Intel’s DCM:SAA has been designed in such a manner that all the problems encountered are solved once and for all.

How Intel’s suite differs from and is similar to others

Poulin also talked about the realization of a few commonalities across the industry, which was a reflection on software-defined infrastructure vision that exists at Intel Corporation (NASDAQ:INTC) currently. Intel’s SDI vision can be considered somewhat similar to others, considering numerous orchestration, hardware and application layers.

The gamut for monitoring, remediation and reporting in real time is covered by the new SDI (Software Defined Infrastructure) software suite by Intel Corporation (NASDAQ:INTC). The software is also loaded with some specific features, such as analytical capabilities that can track potential violations in the service level agreement and also a controller that allocates data center resources generated by computer node agents and based on telemetry data.
