Intel Corporation (NASDAQ:INTC)’s youngest intern Joe Hudy is no ordinary kid. The Anthem, Arizona-based 16-year old whiz kid has been to the White House twice to show off his marshmallow air cannon to President Barack Obama during the White House Science Fair. The chipmaker has hired Hudy as an intern, an opportunity even outstanding college students sometimes fail to get. Now 16, Hudy is the youngest ever person to grab the role.
Hudy impressed Intel CEO in Rome
Intel Corporation (NASDAQ:INTC) spokeswoman Rachel Sutherland told the Phoenix Business Journal that Hudy will be working at the company’s New Devices division. Joe Hudy has embraced the maker movement. Intel CEO Brian Krzanich met him during a Maker Faire in Rome. Krzanich was so impressed with the brilliance of Hudy that he immediately offered the kid an internship at Intel. Visiting the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas earlier this year was Hudy’s first assignment. Now he will be working in Chandler to help drive innovation in wearable device technology.
Joe Hudy said in an interview that his dream job is to work at Intel Corporation (NASDAQ:INTC) after graduating from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Currently, he is a student at Gary K. Herberger Young Scholars Academy, Arizona State University West campus. Hudy may be just 16, but he has traveled across the globe to attend maker fairs. He will be visiting China this April, before traveling to the Bay area in May to visit his favorite maker fair. Hudy has learned 3-D software, programming and made many new friends at the events.
Intel’s youngest intern among the world’s 10 smartest kids
Two years ago, when Joe Hudy showcased his extreme marshmallow air cannon at the White House, President Obama asked for his business card, “just in case.” Hudy has developed a solar-powered computer and Arduino microcontroller boards for a science fair. He has been named among the 10 smartest kids in the world by Brilliant.org. Here’s hoping he helps Intel Corporation (NASDAQ:INTC) come up with some revolutionary new products.
