Huawei is the third-largest maker of smartphones in the world and given Samsung’s disaster that is its flagship phablet the Galaxy Note 7, the anticipation for Huawei’s flagship offering the Mate 9 is only growing as there is a niche to be filled with a phone that doesn’t start on fire.
Huawei provides few details, but leaked user manual does
Huawei is not to be scoffed at or be ignored, while most of their success has come in Asian markets more and more in the United States and Europe is having a hard look at the company along with HTC as opposed to simply choosing between Apple and Samsung.
Huawei had a banner 2015 easily breaking its sales records, and it’s likely that Huawei has already exceeded those sales numbers this year for another record and still has over two months left and the holiday season ahead of it. Most analysts expect the company to easily eclipse the 100 million unit number and the release of the Huawei Mate 9 if done this year would only bolster these numbers.
Previously leaks have detailed that the Mate 9 will be launched as two separate models named the Mate 9 Manhattan and the Mate 9 Pro. It’s anticipated that the two models will be quite similar with both sporting a metal body and be powered by the company’s own Kirin 960 SoC processor. It’s believed that the Manhattan model will ship with a 5.9-inch fullHD screen while Huawei will up the ante with the Pro Model receiving a 5.9-inch QHD panel. These are just rumors, but there are leaks from the supply chain that justify these claims.
Many have reported that the Mate 9 will ship with 6GB of RAM with numerous options to upgrade the phablets’ internal storage capacities. It’s rumored that the two models will each feature a dual-camera system on the back of the phone with a 20-megapixel camera as well as and 8-megapixel offering.
Given the release date, it’s likely that the phone which will run Android will ship with 7.0 Nougat so users can run it out of the box or simply downgrade.
The user manual suggests that the Mate 9 Pro will include a dual-SIM card array along with the ability to expand storage via a microSD card.
